Development
• 1991: foundation of ASPIAG Service srl. by ASPIAG AG; acquisition of various companies and consolidation of market position
• 1997: opening of the TANN meat factory in Bolzano (now Superdistribuzione srl.)
• 2000: focus on the area of Northeast Italy and the province of Ferrara
• 2006: joining Centrale Italiana, the major purchasing collective in the country
• Acquisition of various enterprises (e. g. 62 Pellicano supermarkets from Lombardini and 10 A&O supermarkets from Tosolini)
• Strong internal expansion, including the development of new small-scale convenience markets (DESPAR EXPRESS)
Structure
ASPIAG Service srl. is currently operating in the regions of Trentino/South Tyrol, Venetia, Friuli-Venezia Giulia as well as in the province of Ferrara. The ASPIAG headquarters are located in Padua. In addition, there are regional headquarters in Bolzano and Udine which supply and service the surrounding regions. Eight logistics platforms ensure daily and consistent supply of the stores.
Almost 400 DESPAR retailers also operate under the umbrella of the DESPAR organizations. They run their DESPAR and EUROSPAR markets as typical regional neighborhood stores.

With a market share of approx. 14.5 %, DESPAR has been the market leader in the region for years.
