Since July 2007 SPAR Austria has established a new strategic business segment with the shopping centre and real estate corporation "Spar European Shopping Centers". Thereto belong the extensive real estate activities as well as the development, construction and management of shopping centres at home and abroad. In the area of shopping centres SPAR is market leader in Austria and Slovenia. But also in Northern Italy, Hungary and Czech Republic SPAR is operating well established shopping centres. With the foundation of the "Spar European Shopping Centers” SPAR makes a signal for further expansion in the area of real estate and shopping centres. The reason SPAR-owned shopping centres are so successful is because SPAR always features as developer, builder and manager. Along with the INTERSPAR hypermarkets and Hervis Sports stores, which also belong to the SPAR group, SPAR is also always the largest tenant and thus has the greatest interest in the shopping centre’s long-term upwards development. Topchoice locations, ultramodern architecture and the best shopping partners for the individual country also define the shopping centre in the ASPIAG countries. Until now, the shopping centres were developed, constructed and managed by the ASPIAG itself. Since mid-2007, these tasks have been taken over by the newly-founded shopping centre and real estate company of the SPAR Austria group - SES (SPAR EUROPEAN CENTERS).
