ASPIAG - Austria SPAR International AG

In addition to its presence in Austria, SPAR expanded into neighboring countries starting in the 1990s. The successful journey of ASPIAG (Austria SPAR International AG) in Northern Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, and Croatia began in 1990, with more than 1,500 locations established to date. After recognizing signs of market saturation in Austria, SPAR saw the potential for cross-border expansion and decided to enter neighboring countries. To facilitate this, ASPIAG was founded in 1990, with its headquarters in Widnau, Switzerland. Since then, SPAR has operated successfully in these markets.

The success of ASPIAG (Austria SPAR International AG) is rooted in an innovative and dynamic corporate culture. Since 1990, SPAR country organizations in Northeastern Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, and Croatia have been built and expanded in a goal-oriented manner. As a result, the number of stores in Austria's neighboring countries has grown to over 1,500 locations. The long-standing market presence of the independent SPAR country organizations ensures the highest level of competence and a tailored approach to meeting the diverse needs of customers. The cooperation and exchange of information between the individual SPAR countries, ASPIAG, and SPAR Austria is intensive, as they work together to become a sustainably successful Central European retail group.
